Yellow Admiral (on Pieris Japonica) - Giulianna Del Popolo
Yellow Admiral (on Pieris Japonica)
A fleeting encounter, caught in bloom.
Yellow Admiral (on Pieris Japonica) captures a delicate moment in nature — a bright butterfly resting amongst the cascading white flowers of Pieris Japonica. Inspired by a photograph taken in the Dandenong Ranges Botanic Garden, the painting began with a moment that was simply too beautiful not to capture.
The soft, bell-shaped blooms create a gentle backdrop for the butterfly, bringing together colour, movement and the quiet intricacy of the natural world. Painted on a round board, the format echoes the view through a camera lens, as though this tiny moment has been framed exactly as it was seen.
A small encounter between butterfly and bloom, held in time.
