White Maireener Shell - Jasmine Christie

$480.00Price

White Maireener Shell.

A tiny shell. An ancient practice. A story carried through generations.

White Maireener Shell is inspired by the Palawa Maireener Shell — one of the smallest shells in the world and part of an ancient cultural practice continued by Palawa Women in Tasmania, who collect and string the shells into necklaces.

Jasmine translates this connection into a small sculptural work, created in Raku clay and finished with a triple-fired glaze and delicate mother-of-pearl lustre. The result is a piece that draws attention to something incredibly small, while carrying a much larger story of culture, tradition and continuity.

For Small Wonders, it is a powerful reminder that size tells us very little about significance. Sometimes the smallest things carry the deepest stories.
