Entwined Gum - Lizzie Alsop

Entwined Gum

Look closer. The beauty is in the twists and turns.

In Entwined Gum, Lizzie Alsop takes inspiration from the sculptural beauty of Snow Gums, abstracting their twisting forms to reveal the unexpected colours, textures and natural patterns found within these remarkable trees.

Rather than painting the tree exactly as it appears, Lizzie responds intuitively to its shapes and markings, allowing the organic forms to move across the textured timber surface. Layers of acrylic ink and pastel bring out subtle shifts of colour, creating a piece that feels both grounded in nature and wonderfully abstract.

For Small Wonders, Lizzie celebrates the details we might normally walk straight past, the twists of a trunk, the patterns in the bark, the colours hidden within nature.

A little reminder to slow down, look closer and notice what has been there all along.
