Star Herrings - Emma Sheehan

Star Herrings.

An everyday object, given its moment in the spotlight.

In Star Herrings, Emma Sheehan takes something wonderfully ordinary, a humble herring tin, and turns it into the star of the show.

Set against a vibrant, patterned backdrop, the familiar object becomes something to pause over. Emma’s playful use of colour and pattern draws out the beauty in its shape, details and everyday character, transforming something easily overlooked into a joyful still life.

Her love of colour, textiles, ceramics and pattern mixing is evident throughout, creating a work that feels both energetic and considered. It’s a perfect example of how a small shift in perspective can make something familiar feel completely new.

Part of Small Wonders, Star Herrings celebrates the little things we see every day, and asks us to look at them just a little differently.
