Queen Anne's Lace I - Giulianna Del Popolo
Queen Anne's Lace I
Delicate blooms, tiny visitors and a little flash of red.
Queen Anne’s Lace I captures the delicate, umbrella-like clusters of Queen Anne’s Lace, inspired by a moment Giulianna noticed while walking through Alowyn Gardens in Victoria. Nestled amongst the fine white blooms were tiny ladybirds, gathering pollen and making themselves at home, an unexpected detail that became part of the story.
The restrained palette of soft greens and whites is brought to life with a playful touch of red, while the round canvas echoes the organic forms of the flowers themselves. There is a lovely sense of simplicity and observation in the work, celebrating the small details that can so easily be missed.
One of a pair, and a beautiful little reminder to look closer at what is growing around us.
20cm round x 2.2cm thick. Pieces are acrylic on ply board and varnished. COA
