Human Totem - Jasmine Christie

Human Totem.

A symbol of self, connection and Country.

Human Totem explores the feminine connection to Country through the Palawa symbol for ‘human’. Rendered in pink, the figure represents a female sitting cross-legged, in direct contact with the earth.

The work honours the relationship between women, self and Country, with the figure grounded physically and symbolically with Mother Earth. Its simple form carries a quiet sense of presence, connection and belonging.

For Small Wonders, Human Totem reminds us that meaning can be held within the smallest forms — a single figure, a simple symbol and the profound connection it represents.
