Hee Hee - Polly Dawson

Hee Hee
A little move. A very big personality.
In Hee Hee, Polly Dawson takes inspiration from the world-famous dance move made famous by Michael Jackson, that unmistakable moment of lifting the heels and leaning into the rhythm.
Polly strips the figure back to its simplest forms, allowing gesture, movement and colour to do the storytelling. There’s humour in the pose, but also something wonderfully human about recognising a movement we all know.
For Small Wonders, Polly finds joy in the little things that make us smile, a familiar gesture, a cheeky reference and the simple absurdity of trying to pull off the move yourself without instinctively letting out a high-pitched “hee hee”.
A small artwork with plenty of attitude.
