Dalman (a place of plenty) — Coming down when you fall asleep-Songlines
A quiet moment. A changing landscape. A story held in Country.
Dalman, meaning “a place of plenty”, continues Karen Lee Mungarrja’s exploration of the small moments she encounters along her daily walks beside the Nepean River.
Inspired by the details that catch her eye — birds, flowers, changing landscapes and the shifting light of sunrise and sunset — the work reflects the beauty found in slowing down and paying attention to what surrounds us.
Through abstraction, Karen brings together landscape, memory and culture, creating space for these observations to become something more than a passing moment. The changing natural world becomes a source of connection, reflection and storytelling.
Part of Small Wonders, Dalman celebrates the quiet details that can be easy to overlook, reminding us that there is always something to notice when we take the time to look.
