Dalman, meaning “a place of plenty”, is part of Karen Lee Mungarrja’s ongoing reflection on the small moments found along her daily walks beside the Nepean River.

The birds, flowers, changing landscape and shifting light of the day provide an ever-changing source of inspiration. Through her abstract practice, Karen translates these observations into works that explore landscape, memory and culture — capturing not simply what she sees, but the feeling of being present within Country.

The title speaks to the calming power of these moments: the familiar rhythm of walking, watching and noticing, and the quiet connection that can come from returning to the same place and seeing it anew.
